Isabelle Lian, 15 years old, is a 10th grader at Novi High School. She started piano at age 5 and currently studies with Professor Arthur Greene of University of Michigan. In 2016, Isabelle was awarded alternate at the MTNA Piano Competition, selected to compete in the Midwest International Piano Competition in June, and she was a finalist at the David D. Dubois Piano Festival and Competition in February. In 2015, she got 1st in the MMTA Concerto Competition, the Steinway Junior Artist Award, 4th in the International Young Artist Piano Competition (Washington, DC), Honorable Mentioned in the MTNA Piano Competition, and 1st in the Young Artist Competition of Rochester Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, she won 1st in the Young Artist Competition of Dearborn Symphony Orchestra. She also won 2nd in the MMTA Concerto Competition and Honorable Mention in the MTNA Piano Competition.
Program Pieces Include: Embraceable You by Earl Wild and George Gershwin; Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 55, No. 2 by Frederic Chopin; Sonata in F Minor, Op. 57, “Appassionata,” 1st movement (Allegro assai) by Ludwig van Beethoven; and Hungarian Rhapsody, No. 12 by Franz Liszt.
