Pierre Fracalanza brings an abundance of musical talents in several disciplines. The son of a former concert organist, Pierre began playing piano and organ before the age of four. By age ten, he was playing in Catholic churches and by age sixteen, he was music director and organist for St. Stephen Parish in Port Huron.
Pierre trained at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where he majored in voice. As a professional, Pierre entertained in some of the Detroit area’s finest restaurants and lounges. He also played theater organ at a pizza establishment called “Theater Organ Pizza and Pipes” in the early 1980’s in Pontiac, Michigan. There he was one of four rotating staff organists.
After his stint at the Pizza Parlor, Pierre continued his career as a piano/vocal entertainer. That career led him to entertain for many dignitaries including notable Senators, First Ladies, and the National Governor’s Conference. In 1992, Pierre had the pleasure of being the opening act for Carol Channing at the Macomb Center for Performing Arts. In 1990, Pierre joined Hammell Music as staff artist and remained on staff for nearly eighteen years.
As time progressed, Pierre migrated back to church music and continues in that vein today. Pierre is the Organist/Music Director of a 2,700-member family Parish in the Detroit suburb of Novi, Michigan.
Pierre’s interest in theater organ became reignited when he became a beta tester and artist for Paramount Organ Works, producers of virtual theater organ sample sets. Pierre’s innate love for the music of Buddy Cole led him on a journey to attempt recreation of the great arrangements created by Buddy in the early sixties on Buddy’s own Wurlitzer/Morton studio organ. Before long, attention from YouTube videos of these Buddy recreations caught the attention of organ clubs across the country. Subsequently, Pierre has also resumed a long-forgotten career in theater organ and had the pleasure of re-introducing audiences to the splendor and genius of Buddy Cole.
In August of 2012, Pierre was admitted to the prestigious league of pianists known as the Steinway Artists. This list of pianists spans the globe and each pianist must exhibit the ideals of Steinway & Sons Pianos.
In July of 2014, Pierre was a guest organist for the American Theater Organ Society’s Annual Convention. For the past several years, Pierre has been one of the special guest performers for the RialtoFest Organ Festival in Joliet, Illinois at the historic Rialto Theater.
